Atlanta Area Pro Sports, Concerts, Museums, Restaurants & More…

From the peace and quiet of Dawson County and its nature, it is a short drive to every imaginable big city amenity.  From the northern suburbs to downtown Atlanta and beyond, the clusters of entertainment, cultural activities, and fine dining are varied and splendid, not to mention the excitement of attending Atlanta’s professional NFL Falcon football, Braves baseball, basketball games, and others.

Just 30 minutes down Highway 400 is North Metro Atlanta’s VerizonWireless Amphitheatre concert venue with star performances, from the Eagles to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and more.  The home of the venue, Alpharetta, is a suburban business mecca with close to 900 technology or technology enabled companies including some world headquarters, along with a wide variety of other businesses, shops, malls, and restaurants. Alpharetta even hosts Polo matches from time to time.

Fifty five minutes south of Dawsonville is downtown Atlanta’s fabulous Fox theater with stage shows such as The King and I, Celtic Thunder, The Rockettes, and Peter Pan plus classic movies such as Gone with the Wind and Deliverance or celebrity and music shows such as Tony Bennett and the B-52s.  Within minutes of the Fox is the legendary High Museum of Art which has featured traveling shows from Paris’ Louvre to private collections of Picasso, the great masters, Impressionists, and more.  On the east side of the city sits the Fernbank Science Center and the zoo, and on the west is Six Flags over Georgia amusement park. Atlanta offers an enormous range of dining, from five star dining to hot dogs at the famous Varsity, and from popular Italian to exotic cuisines.  Whenever a big city fix is needed, it is a short drive on the highway from Dawson County.
