FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dawson County to have expanded natural gas access

DAWSONVILLE, Ga. – Atlanta Gas Light (AGL)’s Cumming to Hall County Pipeline project is scheduled to begin in early August 2024 in Dawson County, Georgia.

This system upgrade improves AGL’s ability to meet consumer needs, and the company especially wants it ready to help the people during the coldest days of winter. This natural gas infrastructure also contributes to the local economy by employing roughly 150 – 200 construction workers each year, according to AGL.

“Only a very limited portion of Dawson County will be affected by Atlanta Gas Light’s construction,” explained Joey Leverette, County Manager of Dawson County. “The County desires to communicate this important information on behalf of AGL to our residents.”

AGL’s independent contractor, Precision Pipeline LLC (Precision), will begin by clearing and grading at Hugh Stowers Road (south of Highway 53). The project will continue northeast for approximately 17 miles through Lumpkin County to the endpoint at Thompson Bridge Road/Highway 60 in Hall County (Murrayville). Open-cut pipeline installation will begin approximately 2 – 3 weeks after clearing.

Please note: Precision will have multiple crews working at different locations within AGL’s easement, and many of the construction activities will be happening at the same time along the project corridor. Crews will restore easements after installation as they move along the corridor. However, some restoration activities may continue into 2025. More information is attached onto this post’s page, or you can visit AGL's website.

Dawson County was established in 1857 and is located approximately 40 miles northeast of Atlanta, along the State Route 400 corridor. The county spans from the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains down to the shores of Lake Lanier. Most of the county remains rural and agricultural, balanced with growing business off of the 400 corridor.
