Long Range Planning Committee
The Long-Range Planning Committee is a volunteer, advisory body, representing residents and businesses in the County. It was created by the Board of Commissioners to study, form recommendations for, and report to them on the following matters:
- Revisions and updates to the Dawson County Comprehensive Plan (5-year cycle), Land Use Resolution, the Future Land Use Plan and to form the basis for a steering committee for public input
- Modifications and updates to Dawson County ordinances as necessary
- Revisions and updates to the Dawson County Highway 400 Design Guidelines and other future planning overlays
- Recommendations relating to the future management and uses of the City of Atlanta-owned 10,000 acres Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Tract and other areas suitable for parkland and/or recreational uses
- Development of action plans and the identification of potential funding sources to support the committee’s recommendations
- Additional study projects as directed by the Board of Commissioners
Meeting Times
The Committee’s meetings are normally held on the 4th Wednesday of each month, usually in the 2nd Floor Training Room at the Dawson County Administrative Center in Dawsonville. These meetings ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC whose input we welcome. Please check the County Calendar for any updates.
