Dawson County offers year-round electronics recycling
DAWSONVILLE, Ga. – Keep Dawson County Beautiful launched the county's permanent electronic recycling program on Monday, July 15 at 8:30 a.m. at the Dawson County Transfer Station at 946 Burt Creek Road Dawsonville, GA 30534.
The Rotary Club of Dawson County contributed funding to cover the $2,648.00 refurbished shipping container to collect electronics.
The recycling program aims to accept electronics from residents on an individual basis and is not a solution for large organizations’ electronic recycling needs. The flyer attached on this webpage lists all the electronics Dawson County accepts — most items (about 95%) are free to recycle.
The shipping container is blue and located at the Dawson County Transfer Station. Inside the shipping container are large cardboard containers with a sign indicating what can be recycled. Full Circle Electronics will collect the electronics and process them at their Atlanta Recycling Solutions location.
“Under the leadership of County Manager Joey Leverette and the support of the Dawson County Board of Commissioners, we are proud to offer Electronics Recycling now year-round,” said Robbie Irvin, Stormwater Manager and Interim President of Keep Dawson County Beautiful. “Additionally, Dawson County Rotary, often leading environmental projects, has graciously donated funds to help see this vision through.”
Irvin said residents no longer have to store old electronics in basements, garages, or attics waiting for an electronic recycling day event. Now, residents can shed old computers, printers, TVs, etc.
Keep Dawson County Beautiful is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and Keep Georgia Beautiful. The organization focuses on bringing meaningful change to our environment through quality-of-life services including litter prevention, solid waste planning and coordination, environmental education, beautification, and conservation.
