Residential Construction
All residential permit applications must be complete with the required documents (listed on the application); partial applications cannot be processed. A $50.00 administrative review fee is associated with each residential building permit. There is a minimum four (4) day review period on all complete residential permit applications; you will be notified of the permit status.
Residential Land Disturbance activity requires applicants to obtain approval for a land disturbance plan from the NRCS local office and file a Notice of Intent with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. This additional information is required when your property is located within an EPD Classified Common Development (no matter the size of the lot), 200 feet of any state water (creeks, streams), or you are grading one acre or more of land (including the driveway). This additional information and plan approval must be complete before Dawson County staff can issue a land disturbance permit associated with your building permit.
Please consult with your site design professional, i.e., surveyor or erosion control specialist.
Natural Resources Conservation Service reviews soil erosion and grading plans (land disturbance).
