Tai Chi Chuan

Instruction by Kenneth Jones

When learned correctly and performed regularly, Tai Chi Chuan can be a positive part of an overall approach to improving your health. There are many studies showing the variety of benefits that can come from the consistent practice of these ancient arts.  Benefits such as: increased energy and stamina, flexibility, balance, agility, and aerobic capacity, all while decreasing stress and anxiety.  The movements of Tai Chi Chuan are performed in a slow, focused manner, accompanied by proper breathing.  They require concentration on your immediate activity with an emphasis on relaxation.  Through your practice in this program you will learn to center, relax, and balance yourself not only physically, but mentally as well. This class is a low impact and a perfect exercise for men and women of all ages.

With the Tai Chi Center of North Georgia you will get the health benefits, from properly learning movements of Tai Chi Chuan and learn to flow each posture into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion. You will also be shown the martial aspects of the movements so that they may contain more meaning for you in your personal practice.

Tai Chi & Qi Gong for Adults

Instruction by Sara Reed

The soft flowing motions of Tai Chi are both a health-giving exercise and the foundation of a very powerful defensive martial art.  Recent studies have shown Tai Chi to be a wonderful form of low impact light aerobic exercise that benefits body, mind and spirit. Practitioners of Tai chi experience an improvement in circulation, mood, range of motion, and balance.  In this class we will work on standing meditation, breath work, and how we can apply these to improve our health and well-being.  One of our goals will be to improve our balance and investigate how to use that to increase our personal awareness. This class is taught by Sara Reed and is an extension of Jeff Cook's Wednesday morning class (see below).
